Hi shankuehn , I like the article but there is a problem with the terms utilized for the HA.
Availability Sets are made by distributing VMs in different racks and power supply in the same datacenter.
Availability Zones are made by distributing VMs in different datacenters (by default different racks and power supply) in the same region.
Geo Redundant is made by distributing VMs in different regions (by default different datacenters with racks and power supply)
By your text I assume that you are setting them on AS. My recommendation will be to utilize AZ since they can be considered the same AD Site since they chare the same IP Range and subnet. And will provide improved HA.
