Resolved - Known issue: Voice calling on Apple devices running iOS/iPadOS 17.2
I can conform that 17.4 Beta still has the problem, and with this issue the battery drain is horrible. Once I put in the work around the battery life came back to normal and the units became useable again .
To give the group an update Microsoft ticket I have opened has stated that they are in contact with apple and they have found that there is a problem with a settings that has been mentioned above and since 17.2 this setting is not working as expected causing issues. They're 2 work arounds are the following
- Disable the following settings on the device (This has to be done manually as there is no MDM setting for it):
- Settings > Contacts > Siri & search:
- Show App in search.
- Show Contact suggestions.
- Removing or setting this restriction "Block viewing corporate documents in unmanaged apps" to No.
Option 1 did not work for me at all but I do believe that is what is killing the battery as siri is continuously trying to read the contacts and the 2nd option is what I put in place to be able to use the devices again and also save on battery life.
As for my apple ticket every time I am on the phone with them they hang up on me stating technical difficulties, and they are blaming the MDM profile and they say it's Microsoft fault.. I really hope in 2024 companies are able to work together but it seems the pointing fingers is still happening I will update the group when I have more information.
