Hi AdrianBishop
I have been having a few "odd" results with Wi-Fi config profiles, but only on Kiosk devices.
For one of the organisations, I configured a Wi-Fi network with an SSID dedicated for their Kiosk devices used for a single app.
This works fine, devices connect to it without issue, most of the time. On occasions, they will not connect, switching back temporarily to the Corp Wi-Fi and back again resolves the issue. BUT whenever switching from one network to another, a 'Web Page Not Available' splash pops-up, with the following report.
"The web page at http://www.msftconnecttest.com/connecttest.txt - could not be loaded because:
net::ERR_CLEARTEXT_NOT_PERMITTED".
This is odd as Android devices usually go to something like http://connectivitycheck.android.com (amongst others) when doing the Internet available check. Windows devices use the one shown in the error above. There are ways to edit the manifest file for the Managed Home Screen to set CLEARTEXT to true, but this is not workable. I don't know whether a developer copied and pasted the wrong text 🙂 or what but it's very odd. dismissing screen does not hamper the connection in any way. Will see what happens after the big Android update for Google DPC this month, which has a load of bug fixes (for Android OS and multiple MDM's). 😉
