Logic App Standard - When High Memory / CPU usage strikes and what to do

Monitoring your applications is essential, as it ensures that you know what's happening and you are not caught by surprise when something happens. One possible event is the performance of your application starting to decrease and processing becomes slower than usual. This may happen due to various reasons, and in this blog post, we will be discussing the High Memory and CPU usage and why it affects your Logic App. We will also observe some possibilities that we've seen that have been deemed as the root cause for some customers.

Hi Pedro_M_Almeida​ , is there any way to setup alerts for the logic app in terms of CPU utilization? I faced logic app downtime issue where CPU utilization went beyond 100% and it completely stopped working. Since there was no user reports we haven't analyzed the app and it leads to the issue becoming unnoticed. So we wanted to add alert in the logic app when CPU exceeds 80%. But unfortunately, I am unable to select CPU in the alert dropdown as it says that it's not applicable for this SKU. Can you tell a way to setup alerts to receive email when cpu exceeds threshold. Also please suggest alternate metric to CPU in case of its unavailability to indirectly track the downtime.

Hi Navaneethan,

the CPU metrics are not available in the Logic App metrics, because the granularity does not allow that.

As explained in the article, the CPU metrics can be found in the AppService Plan metrics, and from there you are able to create your alerts.

 

By clicking the New alert rule, you will be able to your signal thresholds and set your notifications.

It's fairly easy.

In the Logic App you can also set the alerts on the Failure signals, such as Triggers failures, Actions failures, etc... I recommend reviewing this with a Cloud Solutions Architect, in order to understand the best signals and best notifications for your needs.

    Hi Pedro_M_Almeida​ , thanks for your inputs. I am able to setup CPU alert from my App Service Plan.
