Over the past few weeks, Microsoft has received overwhelming demand for early access to the Teams Bookings app to use for Virtual Visits as mentioned in this recent announcement around New capabiliti...
I'm working on deploying a Telehealth solution for our clinics and have Teams deployed to our workforce. As we would now be creating meetings and sending the invites to our patients we have a few major hurdles that we've identified.
When our patients get a link to join a Teams meeting in email and click it, if they're on a PC or Mac with a supported browser it works great. Safari not being supported is a pretty big issue for us as we anticipate a fair amount of patients will be using Apple products with the stock Safari as their default browser. Do we have any kind of estimation of when 'soon' is, and is this a work in progress by Microsoft for Teams or Apple for Safari to support this?
The biggest issue is for patients with mobile devices ... if they don't already have a Teams account and click that link, they'll be instructed to download the app. If they follow the prompts, they'll be told they need to sign-in or sign-up for a free account. This is not a desirable or workable solution for us to quickly join a meeting invite (competition for Zoom is making this easier for guests/invitees to easily join without an account).
If you abandon the app and go back to the URL again, it will launch Teams and will give you this option now:
This is better but need something like this to be the first thing people experience, somehow, when they hit that link or after installing the app. Do you have a solution for this, our clinical team is looking for an immediate option or alternative solution. Please hit me up here or on Twitter at c016smith - I'm available anytime to proceed. Thank you!
