MicrosoftI came across Cost Allocation rules last week and noticed a detrimental effect for a FinOps practitioner. The Cost Allocation rules move the cost completely away from the shared subscriptions. Hence it is no longer possible to optimise these subscriptions based on cost data: they have no cost data any longer neither in Cost Analysis nor in Cost Management & Billing. I have never seen a system where input data is corrupted like this. I will address this to the FinOps foundation as well, but would recommend Microsoft to revisit the implementation of Cost Allocation rules.

After implementation of cost allocation rules all cost disappears from 1st March from this shared subscription. Because it's reallocated. Of course the subscription with their resources are still there. But I have no way of tracking that cost.
