We have a new blog post out that explains the demo setup used in the TechEd 2011 presentation about Windows Server 2008 R2 File Services Consolidation.

In the post, you get step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the environment used in the presentation's demo. This is a great way to experiment with a fairly large set of Microsoft technologies, including:

  • Windows Server 2008 R2
  • Hyper-V
  • Networking
  • Domain Name Services (DNS)
  • Active Directory Domain Services (AD-DS)
  • iSCSI Software Target 3.3
  • iSCSI Initiator
  • File Server (SMB2)
  • Failover Clustering (WSFC)
  • SQL Server 2008 R2

This is a long post with dozens of screenshots and it packs a lot of information. Check it out at
