I have spent untold hours troubleshooting this and basically given up, falling back on my laptop Wi-Fi for a reliable connection to my network, albeit at slower speeds. The bizarre thing about this which makes me understand the OP using the word "bogus" is that I've noticed my system will both lose and retain connectivity with event 2505 being reported. I've gone several days without disconnections (frustratingly making me think that one of the dozen or so actions I've taken to troubleshoot has solved the problem) but can still see the event reported in Event Viewer. Then, inexplicably, in one day I have 5-10 disconnects in a single hour - rendering my ethernet connection useless. These disconnects all coincide with the exact time of the event being reported. It's very strange and frustrating. My laptop ran the 2022-07 Cumulative Update a few days ago and this did nothing to address the issue. I have encountered this problem on wired connections with a Lenovo TB4 dock and generic USB ethernet adapter. Both are showing up as Realtek Gbe family adapters. I haven't tried using the built-in Lenovo (Intel) adapter because I've never had the dongle for it (X1 laptop requires a dongle to connect).
Given the number of posts on this topic would be great to hear from OP NedPyle!
