Earlier this month we'd posted about an issue with Outlook 2007's support for Personal Archives, and that a fix has been checked in to the February 2011 Cumulative Update. The Office team has released the Office 2007 Cumulative Update for February 2011, which includes the Outlook 2007 hotfix. The update adds Personal Archives support in Outlook 2007. For more details about the hotfix, see KBA 2475891: Description of the Office Outlook 2007 hotfix package (Outlook-x-none.msp): February 22, 2011.

You can request the hotfix from here, or by clicking the 'View and request hotfix downloads' link in the KBA. You do not require the December 2010 Cumulative Update to install this update.

Note: Office cumulative updates are packaged as separate hotfixes for each Office application. To request updates for other Office 2007 applications, see links for the application in Office 2007 Cumulative Update for February 2011.

For more details about Personal Archives support in Outlook 2007, check out the previous post: Yes Virginia, there is Exchange 2010 archive support in Outlook 2007.

Exchange 2010 documentation has been updated to reflect Outlook 2007 support for Personal Archives.

  • I have applied the outlook hotfix to a client that has an archive mailbox and they cannot see it
The version of office is 2007 Standard

I have rebooted the pc after the hotfix, I have re-created the profile both cached and online, I have also created a new archive mailbox and no luck

    anyone actually have this working?
Are there particular versions of office required for this?

    Thanks
  • @Bharat Suneja [MSFT]: Ok ok, I see...
Strange thing.. in my company Personal Archive feature is disabled for all users and some of them cannot use autoarchive function in Outlook. Why ? Do you have some idea ?
  • @PawZaw: This post is about Exchange 2010's Personal Archives feature. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd979795.aspx

    Understanding Personal Archives

    . You're referring to Outlook's http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/introduction-to-autoarchive-in-outlook-HA010242061.aspx?CTT=1

    AutoArchive

feature, which is disabled for Exchange accounts with a personal archive.
  • In my scenario, the archive options are available only with no  Exchange profile configured. On IMAP everything is OK. (Outlook 2007 SP2) Is this normal?
  • Is the statement from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc178996.aspx still true regarding Outlook 2010?

"Personal Archive is available only when you use Outlook 2010 as part of Microsoft Office Professional 2010 or Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 with a volume license."

It's still not very clear about which versions of Outlook support Personal Archive access.
