Earlier this month we'd posted about an issue with Outlook 2007's support for Personal Archives, and that a fix has been checked in to the February 2011 Cumulative Update. The Office team has released the Office 2007 Cumulative Update for February 2011, which includes the Outlook 2007 hotfix. The update adds Personal Archives support in Outlook 2007. For more details about the hotfix, see KBA 2475891: Description of the Office Outlook 2007 hotfix package (Outlook-x-none.msp): February 22, 2011.

You can request the hotfix from here, or by clicking the 'View and request hotfix downloads' link in the KBA. You do not require the December 2010 Cumulative Update to install this update.

Note: Office cumulative updates are packaged as separate hotfixes for each Office application. To request updates for other Office 2007 applications, see links for the application in Office 2007 Cumulative Update for February 2011.

For more details about Personal Archives support in Outlook 2007, check out the previous post: Yes Virginia, there is Exchange 2010 archive support in Outlook 2007.

Exchange 2010 documentation has been updated to reflect Outlook 2007 support for Personal Archives.

  • @Bharat  I'm having an issue with outlook 2007 Standard,
I have 2 different volume license keys and wanted to try them both out to see if there were any issues

    I go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftOffice12.0Registration{30120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}

    and delete the following keys:
    DigitalProductID
    ProductID

Then I go back and open outlook and I see the archive mailbox
I also get prompted to enter a new key, after entering the key  I choose install now and the archive mailbox is still there. When I close outlook and open it up again it's there but then it disapears

any insights as to why this would be happening?

    Thanks
  • I am running Outlook 2007 (Part of the Small business 2007)
(12.0.6554.5000) SP2 MSO (12.0.6545.5004). I have a volume license for the Small Business Office 2007.

My server is Ex 2010 SP1 RU2. I have applied the hot fix but still no Online-Archive folders appear in Outlook 2007 but I can see them OK in  OWA.

Is outlook 2007 from Small Business supported? - your link is not clear on this.

    Thanking you in advance.

  • @Bharat... Thanks for that link... That's much more precise about what versions are support Personal Archive access... However, it sounds like, if we have Volume Licenses for Office Standard we won't have access to the Personal Archive features... Looking at that page it appears that we would have access if we had avoided Volume Licensing and purchased retail versions of Office Standard... Am I reading that correctly? We pay extra money for Office Volume Licensing and don't have access to Personal Archives? Sigh... -Scott.
  • @Scott: Yes, you are. We've passed on your feedback to the relevant product group folks.

  • This is really frustrating. We already have to purchase an enterprise license to use this feature so why did microsoft choose to restrict the client to only some versions? This was one of the features we were really looking forward to when we moved to exchange 2010 and have still not been able to use it. We use 2007 small business and I guess this version is not supported. I am very disapointed with this product right now.
