In September 2021, we announced that the classic EAC would be deprecated for customers in our WW cloud in September 2022. Our customers gave us lots of feedback on the new design, performance of the new portal, and feature parity, so we took some additional time to address their feedback.

With the feature parity and other work now complete, we are announcing that the classic EAC will be deprecated in our WW environment on June 20, 2023.

The timeline in this post applies to our WW environment only and does not affect GCC, GCC-High, DoD, or other sovereign clouds.

Here are a few highlights of the new EAC:

Customizable dashboard that gives you access to mail-flow and migration reports and action cards.

Global search option at the top that allows you to quickly navigate and take actions within the portal and beyond.

One-click access to Azure Cloud Shell, a browser-based, authenticated shell experience and access to the Tenant Switcher which allows partner admins to quickly switch between tenants within EAC.

The new EAC supports several types of migrations, including cross-tenant migrations for merger and acquisition scenarios and automation for Google Workspace/G-Suite migrations.

We've also put Give feedback and Need help? at your fingertips. Give feedback enables you to provide feedback directly to the EAC team and Need help? enables you to open a support ticket.

Finally, managing Exchange Online settings, such as mail flow and hybrid configuration, have never been easier thanks to the revamped Settings page.

It’s time to say goodbye to the classic EAC and embrace the new modern EAC! Starting June 21, 2023, the classic EAC will no longer be functional for WW customers.

The new EAC will soon be the only portal for fully managing Exchange Online (of course, some user properties can still be managed using the Microsoft 365 admin center).

Support for the following is not available in the new EAC:
- Auditing and add-ins: you must use PowerShell. For more information, see the documentation links below.
- The 'Organize Emails' page under 'View Another Mailbox'. Please use PowerShell to manage inbox rules, delivery reports, automatic replies, and retention policies.

What a joke, why would you take away a portal that had far better functionality only to replace it with literally nothing.  For example as an M365 admin I would regularly have to check users' mailboxes for rules they may have mistakenly set up that would impact their mail flow.  This is a common problem in big organizations.  Now with the classic exchange being depreciated this is replaced with literally nothing and now I have to run powershell in order to see those rules?  Is this a joke?  and at the same time they keep raising their licenses prices?

They do realize they are making life much more difficult for any admins right?  Is the plan to make it so M365 is so looked down only microsoft support will be able to help?

Well, the arrogance from Microsoft, just shoved the new EAC down our throats.

Now you've disabled the old EAC and Delivery management for Distributiongroups only shows Alias instead of Displaynames.

No way to go back to the old EAC and no solution after more than a year complaining for my topic (See a few posts back.)
The only way now is to make a script for PowerShell.

Thank you very much Microsoft for listening to your customers. #mad

The new Exchange Admin Center has a problem when using RoleGroups with a CustomRecipientWriteScope (ManagementScope)

When I assign an administrative user to a RoleGroup which is scoped using a ManagemntScope, I get redirected to

    https://outlook.office365.com/etc

In this portal, I can do nothing, as all function has been removed.

Changing back to New EAC just redirecty me back to https://outlook.office365.com/etc

We have this behaviour in all tenants.

    Please re-test and resolve!

    [[[ RESOLVED BY MICROSOFT ]]]

    Hi team!

    Please, check my post bellow:
    https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange/mobile-device-mailbox-details-in-exchange-online-not-shown-after/m-p/3846405

I have encountered an issue with the new Exchange Online Admin Center. In the old admin center, I could easily view and validate quarantined mobile device details, allowing me to make informed decisions about allowing authentic devices to connect to Outlook App.

However, in the new Exchange Online Admin Center, when I navigate to the user mailbox and click on "Manage Mobile Devices," the quarantined devices are displayed but without any device information. This lack of information makes it challenging for me to allow or remove a device from quarantine effectively. I am unable to view the last sync attempt or any other device details.

I kindly request assistance from Microsoft regarding this matter as it poses a potential security breach. Please take a look at the attached screenshots for reference. In the old admin center, I could view device details, whereas the new admin center only offers options to Allow, Delete, Block, or Wipe the devices.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

In the new admin center, clicking in the top right to manage another user still uses the old admin center. What’s the plan for that functionality?

Well, I may surely hope you'll fix one thing first before then.

I've repeatedly asked for over a year now to solve the issue that the new EAC only shows allowed senders on Distributiongroups only  with their Alias , no UPN or Displaynames are shown.

So it is unusable to see quickly if someone is on that list.

See topic: Deprecation of the classic Exchange admin center in WW service - Page 2 - Microsoft Community Hub

With the new EAC you'll have to convert the alias to a readable name, what's the use of the GUI then?

    Old EAC shows DisplayNames:

    New EAC only show Aliasses:

    Please fix this asap.

  • You might as well have listed some recent additions, as I'm sure some people will ask/complain about them 🙂
