Thanks for the rollout information. I've often found that I am one of the last of the beta testers to get my hands on new functions, so the question was actually for Microsoft. I'm curious to know their rationale.
Your comment about your not finding any use for the new function was superfluous, as you had already told us that in your earlier post.
To answer your question, though, =TOCOL(range,1) is a way to get rid of blanks in a single-column range. It's also a great way to limit a range that needs to be set to allow for future growth. When you are helping people on forums, as I do a lot, you come up against all sorts of data. Sometimes you can persuade the OP to reformat their data into structured tables, but it isn't always possible or acceptable to the OP (I'm not going to go into the whys and wherefores), so sometimes you just have to work with what you are given. I know that the way you choose to write formulae is rather eclectic and isn't going to suit most people who come looking for help (it would positively bamboozle a good 80% of them, to be honest), so your need for this will be very different to mine. Most of the time, I am working with other people's data: it's highly unlikely that I shall use it in my own, which is better structured.
I am particularly interested in the TRIMRANGE shorthand =A . : . A (spaced out for clarity) - this will be a nice, neat way of doing things. No doubt you'll come across something with this in it from me at some point down the line, but it's likely to be at least six months, if not more, before this is available in the current release - not everybody has GROUPBY and PIVOTBY yet!

Moreover, even if you have the function one day, it could be deactivated if critical bug appears (or due to other reasons, who knows).
Yes, I know - had that happen, too!
