Microsoft has made a decision about addressing the new time-related change for Manitoba
Updated Oct 27, 2026
Version 5.0Why is "SupportsDaylightSavingTime" set to true in the new timezone and why is the offset -6? Shouldn't it have no support for daylight time and simply permanent -5?
PS C:\> Get-TimeZone | fl *
Id : Manitoba Standard Time
HasIanaId : False
DisplayName : (UTC-05:00) Manitoba
StandardName : Manitoba Standard Time
DaylightName : Manitoba Daylight Time
BaseUtcOffset : -06:00:00
SupportsDaylightSavingTime : True
PS C:\>The offset when applied works but seems like an odd decision. Is this just downstream of whatever's in the IANA database?
According to the Official Time Act (Manitoba) coming into force October 31, there is no "Manitoba Daylight Time". Just "Manitoba Standard Time".
