Poor alignment. The statement of "Microsoft Intune is the future of device management, and all new innovations will occur there" shows just how out of Touch Microsoft is with Business needs and requirements. Intune only does two things better than "Configuration Manager", those being Conditional Access and MDM (which Configuration Manager does not do at all for the most part). Outside of that "Configuration Manager" is far superior, and can manage Operating systems in Cloud, Hybrid, LAN environments, and includes Servers (We have Servers that will never be Cloud and never be allowed Internet Access). The Reporting and Capabilities of Intune are horrible in comparison. We do use both, but in addition, the poor Reporting in Intune, No Server Management in Intune (most of our servers are in LAN\WAN and not Cloud, we will never be cloud only due to costing and Risk... the list goes on and on. We use Configuration Manager and Intune today, but we will be forever in Co-Pilot mode and will seek out a completely different Solution if the plan is to "Focus just on Intune". Prime opportunity for a competitor to come up with a Solution like Configuration Manager that will keep growing and not be of a one-track mind, which is where Intune seems to be headed, it will be interesting to see what company replaces Microsoft as the leader in this space if their direction does not improve.
