Thanks for the clarity, this was well written.

I'm busy doing the DP-203 30-day challenge, and I had no clue about the difference until today, more than halfway through.

Maybe the names could be different?  That could denote a clear difference between the two, and also make the formerly SQL DW name a lot shorter.

Perhaps "dedicated SQL pool" for the Synapse workspace version, and "dedicated SQL FDW pool" or "dedicated SQL (fsdw) pool" for the former SQL DW?
