Investigate smarter – click, analyze, and easily mitigate with Azure Monitor investigations!

We are excited to introduce the public preview of Azure Monitor issue and investigation.      These new capabilities are designed to enhance your troubleshooting experience and streamline the process of resolving health degradations in your application and infrastructure.

What it is

Azure Monitor investigation is an AI-powered, automated analysis designed to scan the telemetry gathered by Azure Monitor to troubleshoot and mitigate potential service health issues. Investigation provides a list of AI-generated findings that include a summary of what happened, potential causes, and steps for further troubleshooting and mitigation.

Azure Monitor issue contains all observability related data and processes for investigating a service health degradation, including AI-powered investigations.

How it works

When you get an alert and need to understand and investigate it quickly, simply click on the ‘Investigate’ button. Next, you’ll see a list of AI-generated findings to select from. Each finding suggests possible causes behind what went wrong and offers a starting point for troubleshooting.

In order to get a better understanding of the summary, you can easily access the supporting evidence.

The investigation performs a comprehensive analysis over the breadth and depth of telemetry collected by Azure Monitor to identify anomalies across the stack. This includes applications and infrastructure metrics, application logs, resource health, related alerts, diagnostic data brings diagnostic data from Azure support best practices and more (see the full list of supported data here). The investigation also thoroughly examines your application topology to identify potential issues throughout the entire application stack.

Getting Started

Azure Monitor for issues and investigations will be available in Public Preview for alerts on Application Insights resources across 8 regions, including: Australia East, Central US, East Asia, East US, East US2 EUAP, UK South and West Europe. To get started, you can refer to our documentation.

Looking Forward

We are committed to empowering you to reduce time-to-mitigation (TTM) for service health degradation and application problems by providing fast, AI-powered tools that deliver excellent observability experiences. Our goal is to offer a unified platform with all observability data, delivering quick and actionable results. Future enhancements will include alert correlation, support for more resource types, additional Azure data for anomaly detection, and integration with ticket management systems, giving you greater control over the investigation flow.

Your Feedback Matters

We’re committed to continuously improving issues and investigations to meet your needs.

Your input is invaluable in shaping its capabilities and user experience.

In this post it states that West US is an available region but the documentation states otherwise.

You're right, thanks for catching that!
We've just corrected the blog. While West US isn't currently supported, we do plan to add support for it soon.
