I think I am missing a step here. How does the destination server "know" what "trdba" refers to? It seems to me some kind of link between the servers needs to be set up as a prerequisite, or am I wrong?

Answering myself here... apparently since everything is connected within Azure, and database server names are unique, all you need is the "servername" from "servername.database.windows.net" and that's it. No additional configuration seems to be required. Thanks a lot for those steps, worked like a charm!
