Last week we released Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. The links in the “Additional Resources” section provide more depth information, but here are some key pieces of information:
- Language Release Schedule: Five languages (English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish) are part of the first release. Wave 2 will include an additional thirty-one languages
- Prerequisites: You must have Windows Vista SP1 installed prior to installing SP2. Windows Server 2008 shipped with SP1 included
- Windows Update: SP2 is currently an optional update. It will eventually be offered as an Automatic Update, however it will not install automatically until the EULA has been accepted
- Pre-Release Builds: If you have a Beta / Release Candidate build of SP2, you must uninstall the pre-release version before installing the RTM version. You cannot upgrade from a pre-release build to the RTM build
- Internet Explorer 8: Internet Explorer 8 is not included in SP2
See you on Friday …
