Good morning all – today’s post is a very brief one regarding new announcements concerning Remote Desktop Services. The original announcements were made on the Remote Desktop ServicesTeam blog .
- RDS CAL Single Pack now available in Retail channel – Remote Desktop Client Access Licenses (CAL’s) were previously only sold in packs of 5 and 20. There was no option to buy a single CAL. In response to customer request, Single CAL Packs are now available for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 for both Per-user and Per-device license types
- Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 for Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP1, and Windows Vista SP2 – Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 was released on October 28th. KB969084 provides a detailed description of available functionality and provides links to the download package. For details on the functionality of RDC 7.0, please refer to this post on the Remote Desktop Services team blog . One side note – if you previously installed the fix outlined in KB968358 , installing RDC 7.0 will undo the fix. Stay tuned for updates on when this is corrected
- Remote Desktop Load Simulation Toolset – This toolset can be used to create and measure load when using Remote Desktop Services. This toolset will be useful when conducting your own scalability testing. The toolset and the accompanying documentation can be downloaded from the Download Center on Microsoft.com
Until next time …
