Hi, Insiders! My name is Shilpa Patel, and I’m a Product Manager on the Microsoft 365 team. I’m so excited to share a new app that makes it easy to stay on top of your day right from your taskbar.

See your day at a glance with the new Calendar app

The Calendar app is the newest addition to the Microsoft 365 Companion, a trio of mini apps Microsoft is launching to help you work faster and more effectively.

We noticed that many of you are constantly switching between focused work and collaborative work or meetings, leaving you glancing at your calendar dozens of times a day to stay on top of your packed schedule. But all of that switching can slow you down and steal your attention! We wanted to offer a speedy and lightweight “at your fingertips” calendar experience to minimize disruptions and keep you in the flow for longer.

Alongside the People and File Search apps, the Calendar app will give you access to the most common actions you take when using your calendar, like seeing your day or week at a glance, opening meeting chats, and responding to meeting invites – all directly from your Windows 11 taskbar!

Scenarios to try

  • Quickly look at your calendar and see all upcoming events and appointments. You can select any event to open the Teams meeting invite, and select Join to join a meeting.
  • Search any event by title or organizer, and open a meeting chat to get back to the thread you need.
  • Make sure Calendar is always in the same spot to help you in your workflows by pinning the app to your taskbar! To do so, simply right-click on the app icon and select Pin to taskbar. To learn more about other configuration options, click here

Availability

The Calendar app is available for Windows 11 users who have Microsoft 365 desktop apps installed, are part of M365 Insiders (Beta Channel only), and are on either Enterprise or Business SKUs.

Feedback

We’d love to hear what you think of this app! Did you try out the suggested actions above? Have a different task you’d like the app to help with? Let us know by selecting the Feedback button in the upper right-hand corner of Calendar.

Meh, another useless and unnecessary app to complicate things.

Would be great if it worked with personal accounts. I have submitted this request via Feedback Hub.

Hi, how can I install these nice little companions? I am using the beta-channel, but I can´t see any of them. Thanks!

Hi! Are you also a Windows 11 user? If so, these should be automatically installed. Try searching for "People" "File Search" and "Calendar" using the Windows Search Box and see if these apps show! If they still do not show, please send me a DM so I can connect you with my team to help troubleshoot!

  • Hi both! Our team deployed a fix for this, so please let me know if you're still unable to log-in. Thanks!

No change here. I performed an update of office and tried to launch Calendar. As soon as I try to change the account to match my corporate credentials I receive the following error message:

Attempting to review the usability of the Calendar app in collaboration with Outlook and it will only allow me to login as my personal account, which it then says is not allowed to login to the Calendar app.  Both the People and the Files app allowed me to input my corporate account, but the Calendar only uses the account that the PC is logged in as, not the account that Outlook is, nor let me select.  Unless I'm missing it on the settings.

    Thanks,

    Terry C

Exactly the same experience here, able to log on to both People and Files companion apps with my corporate account but the Calendar app doesn't allow me to change from the personal account associated with the computer.
