Hi, Insiders! My name is Anqi Chen, and I’m a Senior Product Manager on the Teams team. I’m excited to share with you a new way to stay on top of meeting discussions: audio recaps!

Listen to an audio recap of your meetings in Teams

The new audio recap feature in Microsoft Teams is your go-to companion for keeping up with important conversations. This podcast-style recap will summarize key topics, decisions, and actionable takeaways from a single or multiple meetings in minutes. You’ll be able to access three different styles of podcast with English as the output language to suit your listening needs:

  • Executive: Dual-host style focused on strategic insights, critical decisions, and essential context that matters most
  • Newscast: Single newscast style focused on delivering key facts for fast, no-frills catch-up
  • Casual: Dual-host style focused on conversational summaries with a lighter touch

Save time and stay informed, whether you’re at your desk or on the move!

We’ve already received some great feedback from early testers:

  • “This is great. Summarizes 60-minute meetings in 5-10 minutes with accuracy. I will be using this vs. listening to recordings from now on. It's easy for me to catch up with all the meetings I can’t attend due to conflicts!”
  • “This is fantastic. Being able to catch up on meetings I have missed in this format will very much increase my productivity…and the reasoning and commentary was helpful.”
  • “I am pretty impressed with the service, and it is easier for me to stay focused with audio content than with content that I have to read.”
  • “Great for commuters/multitaskers. Can also be nice for mental health – e.g., empowers workers to go on a walk or do something around the house while consuming useful information.”

How it works

On Windows, Mac, or the web
  1. Open Teams and navigate to a meeting chat.
  2. Select Meeting details > Recap > Audio recap.
  3. Select a timeframe, the meeting transcripts you’d like to use (you can include up to 8 meetings), and your preferred style (executive, newscast, or casual).

NOTE: If you’ve already created an audio recap on your desktop or mobile device, you will be able to access it here. To generate a new audio recap, select the + button.

  1. Select Generate to receive an audio recap. From here, you can pause, skip forward or backward, and change the speed of the audio. You can also view the podcast’s transcript.

NOTE: Alternatively, you can access audio recaps by selecting the Meet app in the Apps menu, then selecting Audio recaps. Or, you can select a meeting in the Calendar app of Teams, then select Meeting recap > Audio recap.

On Android or iOS
  1. Open Teams and navigate to a meeting chat.
  2. Select Recap, then select the day and time of the meeting you’d like to recap. Then, select the headphones icon in the upper right-hand corner.

NOTE: Alternatively, you can select the headphones icon at the top-right of the Calendar tab, then select New recap.

  1. Select your style (Executive, Newscast, or Casual) and up to 8 meetings with transcript access to include in the audio recap.
  2. Select Generate to receive an audio recap. You will be notified when the recap is ready for listening.

From here, you can pause, skip forward or backward, and change the speed of the audio.

You can access all your previously generated audio recaps in the Audio recaps menu.

Tips and tricks

  • You can continue listening to an audio recap on mobile while you navigate around Teams or via the iOS lock screen.
  • To continue listening to an audio recap from your Windows or Mac device on your mobile device, select Listen on phone, then scan the QR code with your phone to open the recap.

Known issues

  • Some aspects of a meeting may not be included in the audio recap due to transcript quality or technical issues.
  • Audio recap is generated by AI and may contain inaccuracies or glitches.
