Available today: GPT-5.5 Thinking and ChatGPT Images 2.0 in Microsoft 365 Copilot

Today, we’re expanding what Microsoft 365 Copilot can do with GPT-5.5 Thinking and ChatGPT Images 2.0 bringing stronger support for deeper analysis, multi-step work, and visual creation.

GPT-5.5 Thinking is now available in Copilot Studio early release cycle environments as GPT-5.5 Reasoning and is rolling out across Microsoft 365 Copilot in Copilot Chat, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. ChatGPT Images 2.0 is rolling out to Copilot in PowerPoint and coming soon to Copilot Chat.

Together with Work IQ, these updates help Copilot deliver more focused, relevant, and complete outputs for analysis, creation, and complex work.

    GitHub Copilot just introduced some heavy restrictions on usage, and increased the costs for the latest GPT models, what's the future for M365 Copilot look like? Will these same limits be coming to non-code users?

    Please share timeline on M365 Copilot Chat inclusion for GPT 5.5 and especially GPT Image 2. And it would be great if I could actually see which model create an image in "Create -> Image" in M365 Copilot

    Please share some specific rollout details. Link to M365 roadmap entries. "is rolling out across Microsoft 365 Copilot" < what does that mean? Will I see it in my tenant next year? Tomorrow? Will Frontier-users see it first? Is this GA right away? Also you are talking about PowerPoint, is there an associated version number we will see it in? Will Office Insider see it first?

    How can I tell if ChatGPT Images 2.0 is enabled in PowerPoint (Desktop/Web)?

    Will ChatGPT Images 2.0 also be available in M365 Copilot Create, and when?
