Today we're expanding model choice in Microsoft 365 Copilot with the addition of Anthropic's latest model—Claude Opus 4.7—now available in Copilot Cowork (Frontier) and Copilot Studio early release cycle environments, and rolling out to Copilot in Excel.

Opus 4.7 is designed to be faster and more precise, with improved ability to select the right tool for the task. It handles complex, multi-step work with rigor—following your instructions more closely, checking its own outputs before responding, and reading images at higher resolution—so Copilot can interpret visual content with more detail and pull in relevant context with Work IQ to take action more precisely.

We are committed to bringing you the latest cutting-edge AI innovation and model choice built for work and tailored to your business needs—with the security, compliance, and privacy that you expect from Microsoft.

    Bas Brekelmans,

Can you provide some clarity on how this will be released when it goes to the general ring?
Also, can you please explain why this is showing up for our early adopters despite the fact that we have not enabled Anthropic as a sub-processor (https://admin.cloud.microsoft/?source=applauncher#/copilot/settings/ViewAll/:/CopilotSettings/Copilot3PModelSubProcessorSetting)?

In our tenant, we have not enabled (nor have we explicitly disabled (a new config option, AFAIK)) Anthropic as a sub-processor.
If we leave it that way, will Opus get rolled out to everyone in the general release ring?
If we explicitly disable Anthropic as a sub-processor,
will that prevent Opus from being rolled out to everyone?
Will that also remove Opus as an option for early adopters (aka 'Targeted release for select users')? If so, what is the maximum propagation delay we should expect?

For the other M365 admins out there:
    As of right now,
Opus will show up in Copilot chat for your early adopters (https://admin.cloud.microsoft/?#/Settings/Services/:/Settings/L1/ReleasePreferences) regardless of your Intune/Cloud Sync and Copilot release preferences.
In our tenant, we have not changed the release channel for copilot (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365-apps/updates/change-channel-for-copilot) nor do we use the deferred release option for copilot (https://admin.cloud.microsoft/?source=applauncher#/copilot/settings/ViewAll/:/CopilotSettings/EnableDeferredRelease).

    Thanks!

Edit: (apparently hyperlinks in these comments don't publish how they are previewed?)
