vertical tabs
10 Topicspinned vertical tabs button at top and reverse tabs
Now vertical tabs button jumps up and down when you click, make it pinned at top-left of edge maybe a better solution. and newer tabs go down as open order. it makes new tab button moving too. If we reverse the order, make newer tabs at top, it will be more comfortable and humanful. 3.2KViews4likes6CommentsThe animation of autohided vertical tabs is so STIFF
The animation of vertical tab is very stiff. When the mouse moves over it, it delays for a while before expanding or constracting. And there is no animation for the contraction process when the mouse is moved away. Firefox has a third-party vertical tab project inspired by Edge, using user stylesheet and addon. Its animations are implemented in css and the experience is much better than Edge. The difference is clearly seen in the GIFs: Why it should respond immediately: Its delayed expansion is not enough for me to click on a tab, which means that it will expand when the mouse is about to leave, even if I don't need to expand it. So the reason for the delay can't be to quickly switch tabs. So, why not respond immediately? Also, if the delay before the contraction is to avoid mouse leave by mistake, it's not necessary at all - better animation could perfectly capable of responding on interruption. Why it should have a contraction animation: The expand animation is designed, why no contraction animation? I wanna know if this will be improved in a later version. I'm using Firefox now because I can't stand this stiff animation, as I really need vertical tab.1.2KViews6likes0CommentsYou get Tabs and you get Tabs! Everybody get Tabs!!
While I appreciate that "Users can move Vertical Tabs to the right side of the screen" is planned in recent post here Re: Top Feedback Summary for December - Microsoft Tech Community I think that Edge Team can go a step further and allow for tabs to be available on all four sides of the window. This is very useful for power user, or even one who want to separate some tabs into individual zone/segment. Eg. right tabs for social media and emails, left tabs for work related, top tabs for casual/once-off page browsing, maybe bottom for banks, financials, etc. I think this makes sense nowadays in the era of ultrawide and big screen monitor. Bringing the idea further or sideways, since multi-monitor setup is very common now, maybe the ability to have multi-window browser with each saved tabs would be good too. So say, having one window with many tabs relating to work on left side of an ultrawide monitor, and another group of tabs on another window on the right side of the ultrawide, then another window on second monitor with another group of tabs and these states and tabs are saved persistently so that restart or closing the browser would not be a problem and still start the next day with the same setup, now that would be a banger. Hopefully these two ideas are considered and implemented.642Views1like0CommentsTab Search with Windows 10 Caption Button
Tab Search is in-browser feature included to Google Chrome since Chrome 87 that make user easier to search tab opened in same windows or different windows. In edge://flags does not have Enable Tab Search (#enable-tab-search) and Windows 10 Tab Search Caption Button (#win-10-tab-search-caption-button) option to enable Tab Search Feature. Although users can enable Tab Search by using the –enable-features=msTabSearch,Win10TabSearchCaptionButton command line switch, but keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+A) is not working.Solved4.6KViews0likes4CommentsVertical Tabs Design Rework
Hi everyone! I have tried using vertical tabs for some time now and I noticed that they are not as convenient as they should be. Instead of reducing height and freeing more viewable space in the window, they add more UI blocking the view. Maybe, turning on the "vertical tabs" feature should just move all the UI to the side? I attached a raw concept image, what do you think about it?701Views0likes0CommentsNew behavior for Vertical Tabs button on Edge canary

QUESTION (QQ): 3 This would be a bit similar to what i wrote previously, but still completely different, because there is no multi container and other features. We could for example choose to keep normal navigation tabs on top and then we drag our favorite tabs to the lateral bar. Or we do the same with the lateral bar as normal navigation bar, by dragging tabs to the top. without the + button on the side tabs bar and by keeping vertical tabs always in small.1.3KViews0likes2CommentsVertical tabs, Smart copy and Password Monitor are coming to Edge!
Microsoft just uploaded this video: https://youtu.be/yg5cUyPBHjI updated the What's Next page with new stuff: https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/en-us/whats-next at some points in the video it demonstrates a sidebar (0:20 and 0:47), it looks very good and fluent, it's apparently for vertical tabs Vertical tabs It's easy to end up with a ton of tabs open. The more you have open, the more difficult it becomes to find, switch between, and manage them. With vertical tabs, you can easily shift to view your tabs in a pane to the side. This allows you to easily see the titles and access controls like mute and close. It even makes it easy to reorder your tabs, with the ability to drag and drop to rearrange. When you want to focus on a specific page, you can collapse the pane. Anytime you need to switch between tabs, you can hover over the pane to see all the information you need. The new Microsoft Edge is the only browser to offer built-in vertical tab navigation allowing for a more streamlined experience. Smart copy Copying and pasting content from the web can be tricky – selecting the content can be challenging and pasting doesn't always look like the original. Smart copy makes it easier to select, copy, and paste content that you find across the web, maintaining source site's formatting, spacing and text. Use your mouse to select any area or content (including charts, images, etc.) and when you paste, you will get the option to paste as an image or to retain the original source formatting, saving you valuable time. This is one of the many ways the new Microsoft Edge is providing tools to help you be more productive while browsing the web. Password Monitor Data breaches worldwide have been on the rise and the security of your data is one of our top priorities. Password Monitor on the new Microsoft Edge notifies you when your online credentials have been detected on the dark web. If Microsoft Edge uncovers a match with your saved passwords, you will receive a notification on the browser informing that your credentials have been compromised. Through a dashboard view, people can see a list of all affected accounts, visit the websites directly, and take action accordingly.6.7KViews6likes28Comments
