Going from a Dev build of Windows 11 to a release preview/beta channel without a clean install
Hello, I've been enjoying trying out the Dev version of Window 11, but recent updates made it so unstable I can barely use it (e.g. right click only now rarely works). I'm keen to get back to Win 10 - whether the official release, beta channel or release preview - but apparently any downgrade requires a clean install. What's the next best thing if I don't want to reinstall everything? Wait for the next 11 Dev release and hope things are fixed? Cheers, Seb
Getting the May 2020 Update Ready for Release - Build 20H1 now is in the Release Preview Ring
Hello Windows Insiders! We are now getting the Windows 10 May 2020 Update (20H1) ready for release and releasing Build 19041.207 to Windows Insiders in the Release Preview ring. We believe that Build 19041.207 is the final build and we will continue to improve the overall experience of the May 2020 Update on customers’ PCs as part of our normal servicing cadence. Build 19041.207 (KB4550936) includes all of the 20H1 features in addition to the following quality improvements and security updates: This build is cumulative and includes all the fixes released to Windows Insiders in the Slow ring in Build 19041.21 through Build 19041.173. We fixed an issue that causes the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service (rpcss.exe) to close unexpectedly and the device stops working. Then you must restart the device. We fixed an issue that causes the Device Enrollment Status Page (ESP) on managed devices to stop responding if a policy that requires a restart is installed on the device. We fixed an issue that might prevent the rear camera flash from functioning as expected on devices that have a rear camera. It also includes the latest security updates to the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Windows Kernel, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Media, Windows Shell, Windows Management, Windows Cloud Infrastructure, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Authentication, Windows Virtualization, Windows Core Networking, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows Update Stack, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine. Can't Move from Release Preview to Beta Channel
!!! SOLVED: After a day and a restart, Beta and DEV Channel are now selectable. Thanks!!! Hi. Is anyone able to help me? I remember selecting the Beta Channel (as it is considered recommended) back when I upgraded from windows 10 to 11. However, I'm receiving a popup message right now stating that my insider build would expire soon. After viewing the Windows Insider program in settings, I noticed that I'm in the Release Preview channel and both Beta and Dev Channel were greyed out. I wanted to move on to Beta or Dev channel to remove this popup expiration message. What should I do? For context, here are my PC Specs: Windows 11 Single Home Language Ryzen 5 3400G Processor 16GB RAM Secureboot Enabled TPM 2.0 Enabled Here's a preview of what I'm talking about: https://imgur.com/ahOkyKh If someone could help me out. I joined the Windows Insider Program months ago, and I currently have Windows 11 activated. For some unknown reason, I have this on my screen, but I know as a matter of fact that this is false. I know that Windows 11 is officially released now, but this is not the kind of message that should be displayed here if the Windows Insider Program is obsolete now.
