intune win32apps
5 TopicsHow to convert existing discovered apps for windows 11 enrolled devices to intune managed apps
I have a number of enrolled computers that are EntraID joined which have marketplace applications like WinRAR and Notepad++ that were installed locally before enrollment. Additional users also had local Admin permissions and had installed those apps at some point. By using Defender Vulnerability and Intune Discovered apps, I added Win32 WinRAR and NotePad++ as available apps for enrolled devices, for example, in hopes of being able to then have the apps become Intune Managed. My next hopes were then to use Intune Supersedence to then manage their revisions, accomplishing the ability to manage vulnerabilities and application versions. Does anyone know if there is a way to take a discovered app that was preinstalled on a computer like WinRAR or Notepad++ and "convert" them to managed apps in Intune?1.2KViews0likes3CommentsThe unmonitored process is progress, however it may timeout 0x87D300C9

Here is the scenario: I am currently working on a project to deploy and manage apps using only Intune. I have been packaging everything using PSADT. Now I am able to deploy full complement of apps like AutoCAD, Revit suites, etc. with success (even using Pre-Provisioning). I am using device assignment exclusively and managing the different software deployment formula using either Device Categories (or Group Tags within Autopilot Device for the pre-provisioning steps separately). Now I am reaching the point where I need to put in place the setup to maintain all this with upcoming updates and hotfixes (AutoDesk mostly). As expected, I don't want to be updating apps while the users are actively using them in production so I have been experimenting with a way to perform the software updates using a combination of Superseding strategies along with some Requirements scripts (like detecting if the acad.exe is running or not) to automate the deployment of those updates. So far I have been successful, except that at some point my users are shutting down their PCs when not using the software's (Revit, AutoCAD, etc.). As you can imagine this poses a recurrent issue for the updates... I am now experimenting with a requirement script that detects if a users is currently logged on (console session) on the device in order to allow the update to be performed. But for some reason Intune doesn't seem to be installing the software until the user logs on (even if the device is left at the CTRL+ALT+DEL screen, I even disabled the "Shutdown/Sleep" options in windows to encourage the users to NOT shutdown their machines for the updates). Obviously the user opens the update targeted software soon after logging thwarting the concept. Any idea on this ?2.6KViews0likes4CommentsintuneWin - adding powershell cmds to uninstall app before isntalling new
Having issues w/ superseded deployment with new app versions. Figured it might be easier to just deploy the new version and have PS run the uninstall of pre-existing first. If I want to have intunewin W32 package built I normally just point it to the setup.msi and go - works great. Any suggestions to do the following when building a W32 intunewin package run PS and uninstall existing app (I have the msiexec /x string to uninstall the app. Then once removed (if not already there just proceed) and run the setup.msi for the upgraded app I want to deploy?
