hang
4 TopicsHalf the tabs opened in IE mode hang and display error
Hello, I am a developer at MicroFocus working on a functional testing product, and we are trying to integrate IE mode support in our product. We are using these command line flags to start Edge in IE mode: "msedge --ie-mode-force --internet-explorer-integration=iemode". In our testing, we found that when opening a new tab in this IE mode, half the new tabs opened will display a 404 "The webpage cannot be found" message. Attempting to navigate in any of these tabs will just hang indefinitely (the UI is not hanging, but the tab is showing the loading icon). When we try to start Edge in IE mode with our product running (which hooks a dll into every running process, and detects running windows and some other things), it seems that the hanging behavior is always happening in all the tabs. Attempting to attach to the IE process on startup (we do this by setting SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\<program_exe>\Debugger=vsjitdebugger.exe) seems to make things worse, the IE process doesn't even show the "404" message and hangs before starting the second iexplore.exe process. To me, this sounds like a timing issue or some race condition which is made worse by anything that slows down the execution (like a debugger, or programs that hook DLLs). Is there any way of solving this issue? We can provide memory dumps if necessary. Thank you.875Views0likes0CommentsEdge Version 80.0.361.66 (Official build) (64-bit) hangs on MacOS 10.15.4 Beta 4
After installing MacOS 10.15.4 Beta 4 (build 19E250c) Edge 80.0.361.66 (Official Build) hangs shortly after startup. This is totally repeatable and the hand did not happen on the previous MacOS Beta build and does not hang on MacOS 10.15.3 (19D76). I was unable to send feedback with diagnostics from the system with the issue as Edge would not stay up long enough. I've uninstalled Edge and reinstalled without any difference. I captured diagnostic info and a spindump for reference but the zip file is to large to upload here. I assume I'm not the only one experiencing this but perhaps I am. Any thoughts?2.7KViews0likes5CommentsOccasional browser hangs - Version 80.0.361.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit)
this happens approximately every 20-30 minutes. have to close the program every time but the report gets sent using Windows problem reporting. using Windows 10 insider fast ring build 19041 Edge insider Version 80.0.361.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) This is the 3rd time that it happened in a row. obviously I can't send it using built in feedback system inside Edge because it also becomes unresponsive when the main browser process becomes unresponsive and hangs. extensions are turned off, only tabs that were open were from this tech community.Solved2.1KViews0likes6CommentsSuper High CPU usage on Windows - i9 9900K + Edge insider Canary
Hi, I've been having this problem with Edge insider Canary for almost more than a month, right now it's Version 79.0.305.0 (Official build) canary (64-bit) and the problem still exists. I thought it would fix on its own but no matter how much I waited, it's not getting fixed.. this problem used to happen on my system having Intel i7 7700K and now it's happening on my system running Intel i9 9900K. happens on a variety of Windows 10 insider builds, now it's 18999 1/4 of Intel i9 9900K is used by Edge insider! that's really too much processing power. and it happens very often. most of the time it happens on https://vk.com/feed, YouTube.com and on this forum. I Can't tell what is causing this because: 1. when it happens, the browser hangs and CPU usage and temperature keeps going up until I have to force close Edge from the task manager or keep clicking on the X button on that problematic tab until it comes out of hanging state for at least 1 millisecond and decides to registers my mouse click and closes that tab. 2. when it happens, the browser task manager also hangs so I can't check anything. 3. when it happens, it also prevents me from using feedback smiley button and its problem recording feature. I previously asked developers to Separate that feedback and problem recording functionality from the browser core so that when problems like this happens and the browser itself goes into hanging state and becomes unresponsive, the feedback section would be responsive at all times and record what is wrong with the browser. the problem is not related to any flags or browser settings, not related to smart screen, neither is it related to extensions, I've tested all of that. I hope developers give us some ways to produce a Meaningful and technical feedback for them to find out what's wrong.2.3KViews1like2Comments
