Hello there. I do have a question regarding retention policies on o365 groups and what happens to it after deletion. As I was testing my group, I deleted it, I was able to see it as softdeleted via get-unifiedgroup but I couldn’t see it as inactive mailbox anywhere, couldn’t pull mailbox statistics as well. I wasn’t able to do content search as it couldn’t find it. Am I missing something here? I thought mailbox would be preserved after deletion - like shared or user mailbox.Solved2.4KViews0likes4CommentsTenant wide way to stop new Office365 Groups appearing in Exchange Online GAL
Hi, We have come across an issue that many are facing - namely Office 365 Groups created via various Office 365 apps (Planner, Teams, SharePoint, etc) have made a mess out of our Exchange Online GAL. I know there is a PowerShell command to hide the Office 365 Group from GAL after it's created: Set-UnifiedGroup -Identity *** group email address*** -HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled $true I want to know if there is a way to stop if BEFORE the Group is created. Is there a tenant wide setting to achieve this? Can we use Group Classification to this end? Is there a good reference that covers O365 Groups Classification? I only found one so far: https://drewmadelung.com/configuring-office-365-group-classification/Solved14KViews2likes6CommentsDo not store sent emails from distribution group in Exchange Online
Hi there. I have a distribution group for send only email, like a no-reply email. The distribution group email address is being used by an SMTP service and the setup is working perfectly, but the sent items are being stored in the "Send as" email address which is used to login in the SMTP and for the real sender account. This is my configuration: Sender: noreply@... Username: info@... and password SMTP: outlook.office365.com | 587 I tried to use rules to delete Sent emails from the distribution group stored in info@... sent items, but these rules are only applied on Inbox folder. Any suggestion on how can I achieve this? For me sounds like it is a configuration that should be somewhere, because why should I store and increase the size of my mailbox for emails that are only for information/not relevant? Love the new feature with Roadmap ID 15043 that lets us add Exch Online Mail Contacts as Guests to O365 Groups. I'm a little confused on how you expect us to manage Mail Contacts going forward though. Adding Mail Contacts as Guests to an O365 Group appears to create a new AAD Guest User object. When I update the Mail Contact (say, I need to change their last name or email address) the AAD object doesn't update - I have to manually go into AAD and update the Guest User's info. There's no reminder in the Exchange Admin console that you'd have to do this. You can imagine how much a nightmare this can be if that Mail Contact is the member of 20+ O365 Groups and you forget to take the extra step of updating their AAD info as well as their Mail Contact info. Is the solution here to stop managing contacts in Exchange and manage everything using AAD Guest User objects going forward? Or will there be the option to sync Exchange Mail Contact info with AAD Guest User info in the future? We're trying to go all in with O365 Groups but this is adding some unnecisary overhead to managing our clients.Solved2.4KViews0likes5Comments
