Brave browser - how Edge insider compares to it
Brave was first founded in May 28, 2015 Brave 1.0.0 was released in November 9th, 2019. That's 4 years spent in Beta. Microsoft Edge? in January 15th 2020, the first stable version will be released. that will be 10 months spent in Beta. lots of people agree with this, that Edge needs to be feature rich before it is called stable and final. I wish Microsoft make a browser so that the first thing I always do after installing a Windows OS wouldn't be going to the internet and downloading a different browser because the built-in browser is not good enough for me. but in order for that to happen, lots of things must be added. lots of things must be learned from different browsers. one of them is Google chrome. now I don't like Google as a company and I have very good reasons for it. like this Google quietly removes "don't be evil" preface from code of conduct and this this Google has access to detailed health records on tens of millions of Americans but in order to become better than them, Microsoft needs to apply the same features Google chrome has. such as allowing for new tab page search engine to be changed another one of the browsers that are a good examples is Brave, Brave has Tor support for private browsing, and support for torrent downloads. Support for Torrent is really awesome! I use it a lot but I have to install a torrent client such as Qbittorrent to use that protocol. Windows has never added any support for Torrent protocol, none of the Microsoft products have had anything to do with Torrent before. Torrent files should be handled the same way as the normal files are. one step towards this is when user clicks on a Torrent file or Torrent magnet link, the browser automatically recognizes it and starts downloading it the same way it does for HTTP/HTTPS files on servers.SS27: smart switch setting and smart + button (for open new tab)
Suggestion (SS): 27 Classification: TAB - SETTING PRIORITY IN MY OPINION: 7 on a scale from 1 (low) to 10 (high) First add a quick way to switch between download / extension / bookmarks / history in the style of brave but maybe more compact Maybe add custom option too, so that i can add edge://settings/searchEngines?search=google to this list too, or edge://settings/downloads or ... or easy access to flags <<<<<<<<<<<< Second you should improve this mean if i click cmd, alt or ctrl you do specific things: example: open in incognito with ctrl and + open home page with alt show a list of top pages if i click cmd + (example pubmed, google images and ebay.ch). then i can choose which of these three. this is like having 4 different home webpages. or you can even add the way "if i click alt you open a new tab with the edge profile xxx" (even if i'm using yyy now). Or the same, but you show us the list of accounts (like i wrote in 3), so we can choose and we don't configure "open new tab in edge account xx with alt and +" here an example of what i mean, from czech devs. now i haven't checked all other browser. i just tried some random browser on my mac to see if someone integrate it, and the first random browser that i launched has this feature available (just a bit limited) <<<<< another option is to open a tab to the left if we click shift and + other example for smart +: open in new group open next to the current tab (but is better to integrate a whole option for this) open in new window duplicate all tabs from the current group you use to another group open a group of tabs at the same time (same like 3. but by using specific groups that we can configure). maybe without need to add a specific setting where we define the links, but just an option in bookmarks. so an option "add this folder in new tab smart group". then we can add 5-10 folders. reopen last closed tab <<<<< just another thing i noticed now seznam home button is cool, is not the classical home button like all other browser have.... PS: not important for me (at the end there is no improvement in my workflow), but maybe for someone else such smart features with cmd etc. can be applied to too, where you show us different websites (like i wrote in 3. ) <<<<<< NEW SUGGESTION: you can even add this smart button to so with ctrl (or other keys) and < we go back to the first page we opened (not only the previous). or you can use cmd < to go to the tab to the left and cmd > to go to the tab to the right.
Trying to come back to MS Edge chromium
I had been using MS Edge Chromium release version but decided to see if Brave Browser had improved. Used Brave for a couple of months but got frustrated with their lack of support responses and their SyncV2 recently released not being complete. Decided to install Edge Chromium Dev build. The problem is I can not import my settings from Brave Beta or even MS Edge Chromium release. I wound up having to import settings and extensions from Chrome that I have not used for several months. Is there no way to import settings etc from Brave Beta or at least from MS Edge Chromium release version at least? What is the status of syncing Tabs From Other Devices in MS Edge? Do any of the buidls aka Canary Dev or beta allow this type of syncing?
