14 Topicsfive issues with one Office 365 Group
I have five issues with an Office 365 Group. I've been trying to work on them with Microsoft for about 4 weeks now and, unfortunately, I've only stumbled into more problems, rather than resolving any issues. I have two support tickets open with Microsoft support at the moment. Importantly, I don't seem to have these issues with a test group I created for comparison purposes. The issues only seem to occur with this group. Below is a summary of the five issues that I'm currently facing with this group. Invites to some external users sometimes never arrive even though they're added to the group. I've seen others posts on this issue, but I haven't seen an explanation as to why that happens and what the fix is. I have no resolution other than to remove and re-add them, and hope they get the email this time. Invited external users sometimes aren't granted SharePoint access after they click the "Read Group Files" message in the welcome email. I've seen others with this issue on the forum, and it looks like a permission syncing issue between Groups and SharePoint. Regardless, it's a bad user experience if they accept the invitation and then have to request access to the Team Site document library via the web browser and wait for that permission to be granted by an administrator. Or, they can close their browser, wait a while, try again, and find it magically work. External users who are succesfully able to access the Team SharePoint site are suddenly unable to do so. It seems like their permissions were removed, even though they remain listed as a user through PowerShell. I have to remove and re-add them to the Group. External users are unable to search the document library. The "Highlighted Content" web part also doesn't work for them. This was the inital issue I discovered and there's been no resolution at this point. I can't manage the group from Outlook 2016. See the screenshot below. A web search for part of that error in quotes has no results so I suspect this is an unusual problem.29KViews3likes20CommentsCan we trigger an API when new files are added to group folder?
Hi All, we have an requirement to push files from one of the folder in office365 group to sharepoint on weekly basis. I can acheive above requriement by developing an timer job soltuion which will run weekly once and check office 365 group folder and if there are any files then push the files to sharepoint doc library along with some default tagging. Whether sharepoint webhooks can be used for office 365 groups to get notified when new files are added to office 365 group folder, then I can trigger azure function and complete above requirement. Let me know if this approach is possible and any related articles which can throw some light on this area. Sri3.7KViews0likes8CommentsUnable to delete files from group
In our group, we have a menu ' files' . When I click on that menu, I see the files in our group. I can select the files, but there is no option to delete them. When I click on ' browse throug library' on the top right, a newe window opens with the sharepoint library. I see a folder ' general' with our files in it. I can delete the files here, but when I go back to the group, the files are still there.... I also tried to empty the bin in sharepoint, but with no result. "Where should I store my files?" and "What's the difference between SharePoint and OneDrive?" If you get these questions a lot, this infographic could seriously help build a standard lifecycle for files and documents. Also applicable to Teams, Outlook Groups, and Yammer, since they use SharePoint in the background. Hi, when I want to share a file or directory from within a group document library through the team alias using the “share/send link” function I get a confirmation that the link was sent. However the link was never sent. Example: I’m in the document library from my group called DESIGNERS and want to share the directory PIX with the DESIGNERS team. I use the option “Share” from the context menu of the directory PIX. I enter the team alias (designers@...) a short message and press the send button. I get confirmation that link was sent but it wasn’t. Is this a known issue? Any workaround available? Thanks a lot!2.7KViews0likes12CommentsDocument Sets in Office 365 Groups
Are document sets not supported in Office 365 Group SharePoint sites? I don't see the content type and when I try to migrate an on-premises library with document sets to a SharePoint Online group site using SharePoint Designer or AvePoint's DocAve tool I get a permissions error on the "~library/Forms/Document%20Set/docsethomepage.aspx" page. I've added my account as a site administrator but still get the error.Solved2.4KViews0likes3CommentsGroup creation weirdness
I'm a little confused with what is/isn't supposed to happen when creating an Office 365 Group, initiated by Yammer. First thing's first - Yammer and O365 Groups are connected, so that's fine. I have created a new Yammer group which consequently created an O365 Group, however: 1. Planner does not appear to have been created for the group (clicking on the link from the Yammer group gives an error) 2. Group membership in Yammer does not seem to relate to membership of the O365 Group 3. Files uploaded to the Files tab in Yammer do not actually go into the document library, they seem to go into the old-school Yammer file storage Any thoughts cfiessinger or Angus Florance? Is this normal behaviour due to the state of integration, or is something broken? Thanks2.1KViews0likes8CommentsThat's it..I'm Out!
So we have been using sharepoint as our cloud file storage for years. Never really loved it The only way to open file explorer is still via Internet Explorer Onedrive for Business only does sync (like dropbox). Trying to reliably map drive for users doesn't really stick and requires constant reauthentication with IE But we used it. When Teams came out, I was excited that we'd have the functionality of slack with the document repository. This of course led me to Office 365 Groups (aka Outlook Groups). At this point, I can't see Groups as anymore then a Kludge of hacked together parts You get a sharepoint document library but can't get to it via sharepoint...unless you use IE and open the library with File Explorer (still can only do this via IE...are you kidding me) When you do this, the "real" sharepoint page opens in the background (which can be dangerous) You get a public folder calendar...ok but O365 really doesn't like PF's You get an email address. With Teams, this is kinda useless You get yammer....oh boy! To migrate my old sharepoint data in, I exposed both libraries with File explorer and copied. Great except I could never really get permissions correct for other members of the team. So now on top of this, somehow inside of Teams, the "Files" tab has lost it's connection to my Group's storage. I've given Microsoft a week to figure this out, but nada. I've decided to move on to other solutions. I won't name names, but it starts with an E and is a similar name to Microsoft's partner conference. I wish Microsoft would just buy them. They do cloud file so much better. I know that there are a ton of sharepoint legacy people out there, but Microsoft needs to replace the sharepoint engine behind groups and teams. Thank you for letting me rant. Charlie...2KViews0likes7CommentsUsing eDiscovery Preservation Hold on Groups SPO site?
Tried configuring a Preservation Hold on a SharePoint Url belonging to a Group to see if that could be a way to protect documents/files from beeing deleted from a Group and if that would stop the group from beeing deleted by an Owner. It seems to have worked half-way, deleting/modifying items creates a copy of the file in the PreservationHoldLibrary where it's read-only. But it still possible to delete the Group from the Outlook-UI and it results in a orphaned SharePoint site that I cant access (gives 403) and not take ownership of using for example PowerShell (Get-SPOSite -Identity https://doritestudios.sharepoint.com/sites/2016-09-23 | Set-SPOSite -Owner myname@doritestudios.se results in an Microsoft.Online.SharePoint.Common.SpoException) :-( It seems that I still can do eDiscovery searches to get the items out from the site so that could be a way of getting the files out of the site later on. Is it only the Exchange Mailbox that is supported in Groups eDiscovery or is also SPO-sites supported? https://blogs.office.com/2015/12/09/office-365-groups-now-supports-ediscovery-litigation-hold-dynamic-membership-and-more/1.7KViews0likes1Comment
