Windows Server Backup- illegal character in "BareMetal" shadow copy XML file

Attempting to backup OS(boot) drive using Windows server backup.

successful if  SYSTEM STATE, EFI, C, and Recovery included in backup list.

Fails if Bare Metal is added - error illegal character in XML file returned by ASR writer

Any help identifying how to resolve would be appreciated,
