Windows Server 2022 - custom icons not showing

I've got a network drive with a number of shortcuts on it. These have custom icons, set using file / properties / change icon, and pointing to a network location (i.e. not a local one). These have displayed the icons fine through quite a few client and server versions of Windows, but in Server 2022 the icons simply don't appear - just white rectangles. Anyone know of a solution to this? Thanks

DavidYorkshire I have the same problem in Windows Server 2022, Version 21H2, build 20348.2113. Did you ever figure this out? If so, what was the resolution?

No, afraid I didn't! I just gave up eventually - this means that all our RemoteApp shortcuts now just have the default RemoteApp icon rather than the one specific to the program,

FWIW, in my case I found putting the .ico file on the local computer worked, and that is feasible for me since it is only one obstinate shortcut. Another post I found suggested the icons would display properly if the path to those .ico/.dll/.exe files that contain them is added to the environment PATH. That didn't work for me, but it might be worth a try for you, depending on your circumstances. Good luck!
