Tips for adding a windows server to a LAN

Good morning
I haven't been a systems engineer or worked on a server for almost 10 years, now in the company where I work they told me they would like a server and can I add it to the LAN. The company is small, please can you recommend a book or tutorials regarding the configuration of the server to add it to the LAN, and what power and what brand of machine to buy?
