Hello,

Without a clean install, Windows 2008 servers cannot upgrade straight to 2016.
You must first upgrade to 2012 and then upgrade to 2016.
And also you can upgrade from 2012 to 2019 directly.

Or

You can build a new 2016 server and migrate any roles or features from the old 2008 server to the 2016 server.

See here more information https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/upgrade-overview#which-version-of-window...

Regards,

@AyoubKochbati so if i setup new fresh 2016 server then can i migrate server 2008 to 2016 domain controller.. please confirm

Hi,
Yes, and you should transfert the FSMO roles from 2008 to a new 2016 AD server.
@AyoubKochbati,
So i don’t need to do migrate first 2012R2 then 2016 right
I can jump direct to 2008 to 2016 right
