We rent a remote stand alone windows server 2022.
It functions as a web and mail server.
We need to use it as a file server.
People would access files in the server through the internet from different locations. Our people work from home.
Can anybody help me about the best way to allow this?
Thank you.

SolutionHi @Sergio1960,
you can use several options for that:
1. VPN (Virtual Private Network):
Setting up a VPN allows remote users to securely connect to the server over the internet as if they were on the same local network. This provides a secure and private connection for accessing files and resources. Windows Server 2022 has built-in support for setting up a VPN using Routing and Remote Access (RRAS) role.

2. Direct File Access (Drive mapping):
You can use the built-in features of Windows Server to provide direct file access over the internet. This can be done using the File Explorer's "Map Network Drive" feature and providing the server's public IP address or domain name.

3. Remote Desktop Services (RDS):
With RDS, users can log in to a remote desktop session on the server and access files using the File Explorer.

4. Web-based File Access:
You can set up a web-based file access solution using technologies like WebDAV or SharePoint. This allows users to access files through a web browser without the need for additional software or VPN.
