We have 6 RDS load-balanced session host servers all running Windows Server 2019, User Profile Disks are configured. Users and admins upon login receive a prolonged blank black screen which does eventually login, could be anything from 2-10 mins login time.
We have found that disabling the App Readiness system service fixes the login issue, logs are normal, BUT, when App Readiness is disabled this causes other issues such as not being able to log into Edge browser with Microsoft account, also Windows Update is unable to install updates that require a reboot.
Could anyone shed some light on the core issue, why does disabling App Readiness fix this? How can we leave App Raadiness running but not suffer long login times?
We have tried the following reg entries, these do not help. HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AppReadinessPreShellTimeoutMs HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\FirstLogonTimeout HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\DelayedDesktopSwitchTimeout
