Windows Server, version 1709 Lifecycle Announcement

Microsoft

Windows Server, version 1709 is a Semi-Annual Channel release based on the Server Core installation option of the Datacenter or Standard editions.  The Windows Server Semi-Annual Channel releases of Windows Server are designed to empower developers to evolve their container-based applications by delivering features more frequently.

Windows Server Semi-Annual Channel releases are governed by the Modern Lifecycle Policy. Windows Server, version 1709 is reaching the end of its supported lifecycle on April 9th, 2019. After that date, this version will continue to run, but will not be updated or be supported in production environments. Windows Server, version 1709 will no longer be offered on the Microsoft Volume Licensing Site, however it will remain available for users with Visual Studio Subscriptions.

Thank you for being an early adopter and for all the feedback you’ve provided. Much of your feedback is incorporated in newer, supported releases of Windows Server and we encourage all to use it as soon as possible.  See the Windows Lifecycle FAQ and Windows Server Semi-Annual Channel Overview for details regarding servicing requirements and other important information.
