How to Recover deleted Text Messages Samsung Galaxy on Computer?

Copper Contributor

I accidentally deleted some important text messages from my Samsung Galaxy phone and I urgently need to recover them. I have tried several methods such as using data recovery software, but none of them seem to work. I am not sure what else to do and I am afraid that I might have lost those messages forever.

Can someone please help me with step-by-step instructions on how to recover deleted text messages from Samsung Galaxy phone on my computer? Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Last time I accidentally deleted a few important text messages and thought I couldn't get them back. Later I used the software FoneLab and I didn't expect that I could actually recover all the text messages.

I got FoneLab here: (works for me)

The whole process was easier than I thought. I just connected my phone, scanned, and then selected the text messages I wanted to recover, and the software did it for me. This method worked for me, and I hope it can help you too! Come on!

@SonyPPink Recovering deleted text messages on a Samsung Galaxy phone is possible if you have a backup available through Samsung Cloud. It is a cloud storage service provided by Samsung, available on Galaxy phones and other Samsung devices. It allows users to back up, sync, and restore various types of data, including contacts, calendar events, photos, videos, and app data. Samsung Cloud is designed to help users easily transition between devices, protect their data, and keep important information safe even if their phone is lost, damaged, or reset.

To do this, first, ensure that your device was regularly backing up messages to Samsung Cloud before the deletion occurred. To restore the messages, go to "Settings" > "Accounts and Backup" > "Backup and Restore" > "Restore Data." Select your device, and then choose "Messages" from the list of data types. Confirm the restoration process, and your deleted messages should reappear on your device.

@Andranl Samsung Cloud does offers seamless integration with Samsung's ecosystem by enabling automatic backups of data on a regular basis. Users can access their backed-up data from any Samsung device by logging into their Samsung account. And this is a super easy way to recover deleted text messages from Samsung Galaxy phone, such as Galaxy S24, S23, S22, etc...

If you haven't enabled Samsung Cloud backups or if the messages were not included in the backup, recovery through this method won't be possible. In such cases, you might consider using third-party recovery software or contacting your mobile service provider for assistance. Keep in mind that using third-party tools can be risky, so ensure you choose a reputable software solution to avoid potential data loss or security issues.

Once, I accidentally deleted some important text messages, and I was really anxious at the time. Fortunately, I had turned on Android's automatic backup to Google Drive before, and this feature was a lifesaver!

Of course, if you want to recover deleted text messages through Google Drive, here are the specific steps:

  1. Open your phone and go to "Settings".
  2. Scroll down to find "System" and click to enter.
  3. Select "Backup", where you can see your Google Drive backup.
  4. Check the backup page to make sure the "SMS" option is backed up.
If you have backed up text messages before, the time of the last backup will be displayed there.
  5. If you are sure that you have a backup and need to restore it, you usually need to reset your phone first (because restoring text messages directly from Google Drive usually requires setting up the phone).
  6. Go to "Settings" > "System" > "Reset options" > "Erase all data (factory reset)".
  7. After resetting and restarting the phone, the device will prompt you to perform the initial setup.
During the setup process, select "Restore from cloud backup".
  8. Log in to your Google account and select the corresponding backup file to restore.
  9. Wait for the data recovery to complete.

Please note that this process will erase all data on your phone and restore it to the backup you selected, so make sure you have backed up any important data before following these steps. Hopefully this will help you recover lost text messages from samsung galaxy!

If you are looking for other free ways to recover deleted text messages and don't want to use third-party tools, here are a few possible solutions:

Check your device's local backup:

Some phones automatically create backups in the device's storage, especially when you perform system updates or certain operations.

  1. Go to the "Settings" of your phone and look for options such as "Backup and Restore" or "Local Backup" to see if there is a local backup that you can restore.
  2. Use the cloud service provided by your phone manufacturer:
  3. In addition to Google Drive, some phone brands (such as Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, etc.) have their own cloud services, which may include SMS backup functions.
  4. Accessing these services usually requires you to log in to the corresponding account on your phone first, then go to the cloud service section to see if there is a backup and try to restore the data from it.

Use the Email Sync function:

  1. If you have previously set up SMS to sync via Email, you may be able to retrieve this information from your email inbox.
  2. Check your Email account, especially the spam folder and archive, to see if there are any SMS content that has been automatically synced.

The effectiveness of these methods depends on your previous device settings and usage habits. Unfortunately, if there is no form of backup, it will be very difficult to recover deleted text messages. Hopefully some of these tips will be helpful to you!
