Re: Azure Migrade : tool for OnPrem VM requirements
FredFR92 If you don't want to perform an assessment, you can deploy the Azure Migrate appliance and go directly to the Server Migration tool. When you click on Replicate on the tile, you will see a column 'Azure VM readiness' If that column shows a green tick corresponding to the VM you intend to migrate, it means, the VM can be migrated to Azure. Please refer to the pic for reference.1.8KViews0likes1CommentRe: Required network bandwidth
DanBorik22 For an agent-based method of replication, the Deployment planner can help profile the environment for the data churn and help predict the necessary bandwidth requirement. To learn more, view this article. For agentless VMware migration, you can work out the bandwidth requirement based on the volume of data needed to be moved in the wave and time within which you would like initial replication to complete (ideally you’d want initial replication to have completed at least 3-4 days prior to the actual migration window to give you sufficient time to perform a test migration prior to the actual window and to keep downtime to a minimum during the window). You can estimate the bandwidth or time needed for agentless VMware VM migration using the following formula: Time to complete initial replication = {size of disks (or used size if available) * 0.7 (assuming a 30 percent compression average – conservative estimate)}/bandwidth available for replication.4.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Azure Migrate lab environment...
Henry Schulman Azure Migrate Demo Environment User Guide We have created a new demo environment to showcase the capabilities of Azure Migrate. To get access to the demo environment, you’ll need to join the Azure Migrate Demoers security group (go to http://idweb, search for migratedemo, and join the security group).6.4KViews0likes10CommentsRe: Azure Migrade : tool for OnPrem VM requirements
FredFR92 For the first question, you can perform discovery and assessment using the Azure Migrate Server Assessment tool. It will provide recommendations for readiness in Azure. Once you have performed the assessments, you use the Azure Migrate agentless VMware migration method. When you start this process, you can apply the recommendations from assessment to all the VMs that you intend to migrate together. Here also, as second validation, we will show you which VMs are ready for migration. For the second question, today, Azure Migrate doesn’t support failover cluster. Having said that, Azure Migrate replicates all disks as seen on the VM. In a WSFC environment, if the shared disk is seen on only one of the nodes, it will be replicated. But if shared disk is active on multiple nodes, you will see data integrity issues. For FCI with shared disks, you can stand up the SQL server in Azure, or you can use Managed Instance, and then copy over the database using the Database Migration Service tool1.8KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Windows Server 2008 R2 Support
That's right. It's from 14th January 2020. You can check the following document to know more: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/extended-security-updates#:~:text=Windows%20Server%202008%20and%20Windows%20Server%202008%20R2%20reached%20the,support%20includes%20regular%20security%20updates.3.1KViews1like0CommentsRe: Disk size limits for migration
For Hyper-V, it's 4 TB data disks today. We are planning to add the support for disks upto 8 TB. You can, however, treat the Hyper-V VMs as physical servers, use agent-based physical server migration method, and migrate to Azure if the disk size is more than 4 TB.5.5KViews0likes1CommentRe: Windows Server 2008 R2 Support
CedricA You can migrate your on-premises Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 servers to Azure virtual machines and get Extended Security Updates for three years after the End of Support dates at no additional charge above the cost of running the virtual machine. You can use the Azure Migrate: Server Migration tool to migrate your Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 workloads.3.3KViews0likes2Comments
