Re: Discussion: Add ability to close tabs via double-click
I'm the traditional user with a mouse and keyboard. Maybe that's why we see things differently. I usually open a lot of tabs which is hard to see the topic on the tab, so I always switch to a tab to see if I will close it and then I click the "x". Thus your "hold solution" may not work with this working style. What I propose to the developer of edge is, close the tab via a single right-click, and put the original right-click function to "Shift+right click", if the original right-click on the tab is not used frequently. I used to experience the function "right-click on a tab to close it" on some Chinese Chromium browsers. It is convenient and I rarely close the wrong tab. That experience make me feel like the solution to our topic, for traditional user. For touch device user, surely your idea is much better than mine.3.4KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Discussion: Add ability to close tabs via double-click
Some Chinese Chromium browsers have already developed this functionality several years ago. It truly can improve the user experience a lot. When I turn to chrome and then edge, it's hard to believe that these two browsers still need to click those little 'x'.3.5KViews0likes0CommentsAuto-translate not work on my edge dev
when I watching foreign language website, edge dev will always ask me if I want to translate the page and I check the box "always translate pages from (language name)". Then the translation works well but next time I open this page again, edge dev will ask me again about the translation stuff. It never remembers the languages that need to be translated. And I don't find any similar question in the Discussions, so is it only happens on my edge dev? Btw, the auto-translate works well in my stable edge on the same PC. The version of the edge dev is 88.0.705.9 and the same problem for the previous version.1.2KViews4likes3CommentsRe: Discussion: Add ability to close tabs via double-click
yes, so now I use three-fingers-tap on the touchpad as middle mouse button because my real middle mouse button is hard to click. but it still a compromised option, not a convenient option. I suppose double-click or other operations mentioned in my reply will do better.5.8KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Discussion: Add ability to close tabs via double-click
MissyQ The double-left-click solution is not so good for me, but still great progress. I read all the comments so far and I want to say that this utility is necessary and essential. I usually use the laptop with my mouse but sometimes I can only use the touchpad when I'm in a lecture. When I have my mouse, it is not a big deal to find a small 'x' on the tab, although it costs my patience. However, when I have to use the touchpad, the problem begins to show. God knows how exhausted it is to click all those 'x'. For your concern, I have a solution. Using single-right-click is the best for me because I never use the right-click on tab, the original right-click function can be fulfilled by Shift+right-click or Ctrl+right-click. And I suppose no one will misapply the right-click as the left-click. Nevertheless, the solution above may need to change the user habit, which may not be your preference, so maybe we can close the tab via Shift+right-click or Ctrl+right-click and keep the right-click as it was. Thanks for reading.17KViews2likes1Comment
