Re: Top Feedback Summary for November 17
MissyQ Personally I would really appreciate any UI improvements to make Edge more aligned with Fluent Design, I won't rehash what others have said, and the updated icons are a nice touch, but there really needs to be much more fundamental UI changes before Edge is even close to being aligned with Fluent Design. Personally, I really like the Fluent Design UI, and I loved the UI of the legacy Edge.9.3KViews1like0CommentsRe: Announcing a new way to paste URLs, Link format!
rjpaulsen in MS Teams and some other apps I discovered that you can use the Control + Shift + V which pastes as the plaintext and so you get the raw URL, same if you copy some other formatted text from say MS Word, hopefully that helps you as well π10KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Announcing a new way to paste URLs, Link format!
This looks like a great feature, as I'm reading I'm thinking how useful this could be if it was expanded to other areas of Windows, for example Office apps, are you planning to work with other Microsoft teams to introduce this functionality in other apps. Specifically I'm thinking that the this would really benefit me in the "OneNote for Windows 10" app. Thanks, -Aaron207KViews2likes1CommentRe: Discussion - Updating our interface with Fluent touches
MissyQ As a software developer who works in a large organisation but also works closely with UX people, I understand the challenges of implementing a single design and experience language across the entire organisation. However, the thing that has always bothered me about Microsoft products since Fluent Design was introduced, is that even years later there still isn't consistency between products. But it's not big things, it's little things that you notice after some time of use, it's menu items being different heights in different apps, it's the inconsistent use of things like acrylic, it's that some apps have more pronounced hover effects and styles than others. This inconsistent experience is frustrating for the end user. If Edge is to be one of the flagship products in Windows, then it has to fully embrace all of the elements of the design system, otherwise those inconsistencies will turn off users and they won't even realise why, because all of these inconsistencies are really subtle, they're not at first obvious. As a end user, I don't really care what the design system is, if it looks good then that's a nice bonus, and of course it has to be usable, but at the end of the day all I care about is that it's implemented in a consistent way that creates an experience which feels seamless between products. Unfortunately Edge, as it is right now, kind of stick out like a sore thumb in the modern Windows experience. Even within Edge itself there are design inconsistencies, and as someone who has used Chromium before, it kind of feels like the Edge Team has just taken Chromium, made some design tweaks, and called it a day, it feels like you haven't bothered to take the time to properly implement Fluent, across the entire app, and the user experience of Edge, and Windows as a whole, ultimately suffers because of that. P.S. I'd love to see the acrylic look be implemented in Edge, I think it looks so much nicer than the current UI, here's an example someone linked earlier: https://twitter.com/RobinWithTheD/status/12833928147437731864.9KViews3likes0CommentsRe: Dev channel update to 81.0.396.0 is live

This is technically still an issue, I have two AAD/O365 connected profiles in Edge, previous to this update both profiles would display a "sign in" button which did nothing. Now that no longer happens, both profiles are signed in, but for both I get the message "Sync isnβt available for this account." with no indication as to why. This does seem to be a bug because on another computer where Edge Dev is installed and uses one of the AAD/O365 connected profiles syncing appears to work. I think bringing over the reading list feature would be useful, yes you can technically use favourites to accomplish the same task, but it feels a little clunky since it's not designed to be used for rapid adding and removing. Collections could be a good alternative, I haven't tried collections too much yet, but for Collections to be a useful alternative it would have to be available on the mobile app, since my main use for using a reading list like feature is when I'm on my iPhone and find a article I want to read I need a way to easily add that to a list for reading later on my desktop. So whatever comes of Reading List, for me the priority is that it solves that use case and does it in a way where it's very easy to add items and then remove them once done. YouTube kind of manages to accomplish this with their Watch Later feature, which is just a personal playlist but with quick context menu actions to allow easy adding and removing from that particular playlist.20KViews2likes5CommentsRe: Top feedback summary for November 19
David Rubino "The address bar and its text are too big, and should be smaller like Chrome" Please don't make this change, as someone who uses a touchscreen the larger UI is nicer, and as someone who has a visual impairment I find the smaller UI of Chrome a less accessible than the larger Edge UI. I presume that you also couldn't do this if you plan to eventually add the fluent design system in full. Thanks for building a great product π6.6KViews2likes1CommentRe: Top feedback summary for September 10
The address bar and its text are too big, and should be smaller like Chrome I feel the opposite, I actually prefer the current size over the size in Chrome, as someone with a visual impairment who also uses a touch screen from time to time I find the larger address bar and tabs more accessible.12KViews4likes0Comments
