Until now, System Center Operations Manager would provide extended monitoring only for the devices that were certified by Microsoft, all other devices would just get basic monitoring and are referred to as generic devices. Not anymore! We are excited to share with you that with System Center 2016 Operations Manager, customers can create their own Management Pack with our new NetMonMPGenerator tool, to get extended monitoring for their new/existing devices without the need for Microsoft device certification.

Tool Description

Network Monitoring Management Pack generation tool is a command line tool that takes in an input XML file.

In the input XML file, users would need to specify the system object id of each device model they want to extend the monitoring for, the SNMP OIDs that are required to discover the device components, the monitors and rules to be run against the device or its components. MP Generator tool would use the information defined in input XML file to generate a management pack to monitor the devices. Customers could get extended monitoring for their network devices by importing the generated Management Pack.
