The long-awaited, much-anticipated, soon-to-be-celebrated Virtual Machine Role Authoring Tool is now live on CodePlex by Aravind Ramarathinam. The VM Role Authoring Tool will enable you to begin authoring deployable content in the new Windows Azure Packs Virtual Machine Role.

The release of the Virtual Machine Role in Windows Azure Pack and System Center 2012 R2 introduces an application model to deploy virtual machine workloads. A How-To video has been posted here:

Charles Joy from our Windows Server / System Center CAT team gets you immediately started with working in this new application model.

This tool is used to author VM Role artifacts - Resource Definition and Resource Extension Packages.

Additionally the tool can be used to author consistent VM Role work load gallery content for Windows Azure Pack and Windows Azure.

/Enjoy!
