When you joined the Student Ambassador community in 2019, did you have specific goals you wanted to reach, such as a particular skill or quality?
I have always been fascinated by student communities and always wanted to be a part of one while contributing to it. When I first joined this amazing community, I wanted to build my public speaking skills and event organizing skills. I wanted to build a network with people sharing the same passion, and I have been able to achieve that. I was able to realize this dream of learning and growing with this community.
What were the accomplishments that you’re the proudest of and why?
As a Student Ambassador, I was able to bring Major League Hacking’s (MLH) first-ever member hackathon in Nepal as a lead organizer. It was supported by the Microsoft Student Partner community as a sponsor. [Editor’s note: Microsoft Student Partners is the former name of the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program]. It was the first hackathon I ever organized, and it was a very challenging job, as we had to find sponsors, arrange locations, make arrangements, and do marketing. I learned so many skills like leadership, teamwork, and organizing skills through the hackathon. Another accomplishment that I'm proud of is being selected as one of MLH's Top 50 Hackers of 2021. It helped in my recognition as a community-oriented person.
What are you doing now that you’ve graduated?
Currently, I am working for a Cloud Consulting company, Genese Solution as a Business Development Associate where my role is to understand clients' requirements and propose a solution in the cloud.
I would like to continue this journey on cloud services, get certifications, and gain experience and skills.
If you could redo your time with the Student Ambassadors community, is there anything you would have done differently?
There’s nothing I would have done differently. It went great as expected.
If you were to describe the community to a student who is interested in joining, what would you say about it to convince him or her to join?
You will get lots of opportunities and gain a number of skills, you will get access to resources and build a network with professionals all around the world, and you can find the mentors that you have been searching for.
What advice would you give to new Student Ambassadors?
Be active in the community and organize events. The community allows you to learn and share the skills you learn with the community.
Do you have a motto in life, a guiding principle that drives you?
Consume Knowledge, Work, and Live Happy
What is one random fact few people know about you?
I love summer and hate the rainy season because the roads are covered in mud, making it hard to go anywhere without worrying.
We wish you the best of luck, Manish!
