SSMS Upgrade

Does anyone know if it is safe to upgrade from SSMS v17.7 directly to v 18.8?

Yes it's save to update to the latest version.

SSMS is an application as every other and has "sometimes little bugs", which get fixed with new version.

Current version supports feature set of SQL Server 2008 - 2019.
