sql-dmo installed service

I hope someone can help me.

My client has an application which runs using sql server 2000 personal edition.

When I try to install the application an error occurs:

SQL-DMO service Control error: The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

Error number: 2147023836

I have searched and searched the Internet looking for any information about SQL-DMO installed service and found absolutely nothing.

I find several references to sql-dmo dll file. I have installed that and successfully registered the dll. This does NOT solve the problem.

The application will not run on anything but SQL server 2000.

Where can I find information about how to solve this problem?

@DonPickering , SQL Server 2000 is out-of-support since a very long time

SQL-DMO service Control error: The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

DMO = "Database Management Object" is an ActiveX DLL, not a Windows service, to that message don't make much sense. Ask the software vendor for support.
