SMS Texting through Skype for Business

Just to clarify, Chatabox does offer a choice of a virtual number (ie. the third number you refer to), but we can also SMS-enable your existing Microsoft number as well as your existing landline number, so you can have SMS and Voice on the familiar number you already use.
FYI, we're also working with Direct Routing partners to add the Chatabox service to the numbers they provide so that you can send and receive SMS on the direct routing number they provide from within Microsoft Teams.
