Upgrade with confidence

Today Google announced the general availability of the Android Oreo update (also known as Android O or Android 8.0). The Intune team has been anticipating this day for months. Developer preview bits for Oreo first became available back in March 2017, and since then we’ve been kicking the tires on it, flashing it onto our test devices, integrating it into our test suites, and testing it under MDM and MAM scenarios. We always make day 0 support for new versions of operating systems a priority, and we are happy to announce that Intune has day 0 support for Android O. You can be confident that once your users upgrade to the released version of Android O, Intune's device and app management features will continue to work seamlessly. This applies to all facets of Android management with Intune including work profile management, non-work profile management, and App Protection Policies. The only thing you need to do is update to the latest version of the Company Portal, which is available now in the Google Play Store . A few things have moved or changed with this update. For more details on these changes check out our support blog .

Looking forward

This past year has been busy for the teams within Intune developing Android solutions, with the introduction of support for work profiles (Android for Work) as well as continued work on the ecosystem of Microsoft and third-party apps that support App Protection Policies. We’ll continue to work closely with the Android Enterprise team to ensure Intune delivers the best Android platform experience possible for our customers.
