Working with governments and public sector agencies around the world, we often find that people have the same questions about cloud, the benefits, the risks – and what it even is.

While we have lots of helpful material from Microsoft which can provide answers to these questions, sometimes there’s nothing like hearing these messages from a neutral third party.

The World Bank Group provides financing to governments globally for public sector projects, and have been seeing increasing demand from their clients to better understand digital transformation. In response to this, the World Bank’s Digital Development Group published a new report this week to set out the basics on cloud migration options, explore the benefits and bust some common myths.

The report is called ‘Government migration to cloud ecosystems: multiple options; significant benefits; manageable risks’ and includes insights on:

  • Cost efficiency
  • Security
  • Data protection
  • Performance and reliability
  • Scalability
  • Environmental sustainability

If you’re looking to explain these issues to your colleagues, or want to find examples of places doing this well, check out the report here on Microsoft’s Public Sector Center of Expertise website.

And join the report’s author, Dr. Rami Amin, on our Microsoft Public Sector Future podcast to hear more about the findings - available here, or wherever you get your podcasts.
