It’s MVP Reconnect once more and today we have the privilege of hooking back up with Claudio Lassala, a Brazilian Visual FoxPro and C# MVP from 2002 to 2013. Claudio, who has called Houston, Texas home since late 2002, is currently Technical Director at Improving Houston.

Having worked developing software since the early ‘90s, Claudio has in recent years found an exciting way of sharing his talents through his Improving Code User Group Meetup. Additionally, he dedicates time to giving talks to other user groups including the Houston .NET user group and the North Houston .NET user group, as well as to speaking at conferences around Texas. He is, for example, closely involved with the Agile Shift conference, assisting with the coordination of speakers and content.

Such involvement is really meaningful for Claudio, who has been active in the software development community since 1998. Speaking with the MVP blog, he tells us that he has always found that staying involved is of tremendous value, both for his own personal growth and for the fulfillment that comes with helping others grow.

Being a Reconnect member is also of great significance to Claudio. As he explains, he met a great deal of interesting, talented, like-minded folks during his remarkable 12-year streak as a Microsoft MVP. Being able to connect all over again with these people means taking a trip down memory lane, and enjoying the opportunity to share in what new things his old colleagues are up to. Moreover, the Reconnect community continues to help him grow his network, which in turn has brought new opportunities.

Claudio remembers attending the yearly MVP summits especially fondly. And to all the current MVPs out there, he’d encourage them to participate in MVP-worthy activities for all the right reasons – do it for the joy of helping others, he says, not for the recognition.

Exemplifying this MVP spirit, Claudio has once more committed himself to looking for opportunities to give back this year, to help out user groups and conferences whenever possible and to share his expertise. Of course, he’ll surely also find time to dedicate energies to his other biggest passion: motorcycle track riding!

Check out his most recently published work on his blog. Also, follow him on Twitter @ClaudioLassala.
